We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Director, of Accounting and Financial Reporting to be a key member of a fast-paced and dynamic organization. This position is responsible for providing hands-on execution and administration of the accounting function and will lead to establish strong financial controls and compliance, and will lead the execution of the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close procedures and ensures the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of internal financial reporting to management. The position also oversees payroll; cash management; works directly with the Finance and Accounting Management and senior management to support SEC and external reporting requirements and to create a robust financial planning and analysis process in order to meet financial and strategic objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of accounting management and executes on the day-to-day accounting operations which includes; accounts payable, general ledger, clinical trial accruals, tax compliance, payroll, banking and cash management
  • Oversees and mentors the Accounting team
  • Collaborates with and provides support to internal managers throughout the organization
  • Responsible for timely and successful completion of external financial audits and quarterly reviews
  • Assists with the preparation of SEC filings, including all periodic reports, 6-K’s, 8k’s, 10 Q’s, Ownership Reporting (Form 4’s), Reg FD filings, etc.), including footnote preparation and adhering to disclosure requirements
  • Supports with the resolution of complex technical accounting issues timely and effectively including performing technical accounting research and preparing accounting memos as needed
  • Develops and manages clinical trial and CMC accounting accruals
  • Ensures appropriate recognition, classification and safeguarding of fixed assets
  • Develops documentation of standards and procedures for the accounting and finance teams’ processes
  • Researches and resolves accounting or documentation issues and discrepancies.
  • Manages month end close and monthly reconciliations including supplemental schedules, rollforwards, reconciliations, etc
  • Produces monthly reporting package and financial statements
  • Compiles the consolidated financial reporting package for internal and external users
  • Creates and posts journal entries to the general ledger, where necessary, including month-end recurring and accrual entries
  • Supports ongoing financial planning, analysis and financial forecasting
  • Monitors actual versus budget, including variance analysis
  • Maintains and monitors the system of internal accounting controls and ensure their efficiency and effectiveness
  • Leads as primary contact for inquiries, from internal and external representatives
  • Ensures the effectiveness of internal controls and integrity of accounting records and resulting financial statements
  • Ensures the ERP system is configured and maintained to optimally support the company’s long-term accounting needs, support for a robust financial planning process and periodic reporting requirements
  • Provides timely and accurate reporting of all federal, state, and local tax filings (income taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, franchise taxes, 1099s etc.);
  • Completes ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis, as well as special projects as needed


  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA with big 4 accounting firm experience preferred
  • 10+ years relevant finance and accounting experience including 4+ years experience in accounting with a publicly held company
  • Experience working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong financial systems expertise; preferably with ERP implementations
  • Experience in a lead role supporting SEC and external reporting requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, clinical trial accruals, budgeting, tax, banking, cash management, cost control principles, and GAAP
  • Demonstrated ability in leading and assisting with building an accounting function from the ground-up, including recruitment, development and retention of top industry talent
  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
